Personal Appearance

Mammoth Mountain Ski Area is in the family recreation business. Families tell us that they prefer resorts where employees have a neat, clean cut, and conservative appearance. Therefore, we believe that it is a competitive advantage for us to maintain a neat, clean cut, conservative appearance standard.

Nametags are to be worn at all times and in the prescribed manner. If your job is not one that requires a uniform, you must wear clothing appropriate for the job being performed. Clothing must be clean, wrinkle free, and in good condition. Patched clothes, extremely tight or baggy clothes, clothing or hats with logos of other ski areas are examples of inappropriate attire. Most front line service departments require employees to wear black pants.

Grooming Standards

Visible tattoos are permitted; provided, however, that such tattoos are in good taste and are not of a design to attract attention. Some examples of prohibited content are gang related, excessive coloring, large visible skin areas, vulgarity, and/or content in violation of Company harassment and discrimination policies.

Visible body piercing jewelry is permitted; provided, however, that it is limited to ears. Visible piercing on the eye areas, face, mouth, nose, or tongue are not permitted. As to ears, jewelry must be kept to a minimum. Female employees may wear no more than three earring in total. Male employees may wear no more than one earring per ear. Earring must not exceed the size of a quarter. Ear jewelry must be in good taste, discrete, and not be of a design to attract attention.

Your hair style must not interfere with your job duties. Excessively spiked, unnaturally colored, heavily greased, or disproportionately cut hair are examples of inappropriate appearance.

In any situation, no gap may appear between your shirt and pants/shorts/skirt.

Your department may require more demanding guidelines in addition to these guidelines.

Men

  • Your hair must be cut above the collar with the bottom half of the ear showing.
  • Your face must be clean shaven at all times. You may not wear a beard or mustache of any kind. Sideburns may be no longer than the bottom of the ear.

Women

  • The bottom hem of any skirt or pair of shorts should not be shorter than the tips of your fingers standing with your arms straight at your sides.
  • All shirts must have some form of straps.
